Ingredients

  • 1 pound Lean ground beef
  • 1 cup Finely chopped onions
  • 4 cups Hot water
  • 1 cup Carrots; thinly sliced
  • 1 cup Celery; diced
  • 1 cup Potatoes; diced into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 Bay leaf; crumbled
  • Few leaves dried basil
  • 6 Whole fresh tomatoes; stems removed & cut into eighths
